I am in Austin, Texas as I write this. It’s hot, smells like cedar and is sweaty. I like it. People are really friendly and I feel very welcomed. I am staying with my tour companion and very talented songwriter Vanessa Peters in Austin. Today we found a little cottontail rabbit that was about to get eaten by a dog. We took him/her, named Lamar, to the animal rescue. I think he’ll be ok….

It has been a busy couple of months…
I went on a 3 month tour this spring of Sweden, Denmark, Germany, UK and Holland. It was so great. Thank you so much to all the promoters, people who came out to the shows, people who laughed or cried with me, people who helped us by feeding us or putting me up or buying my cd or even just saying writing encouraging words..it really means a lot and it keeps me going with this crazy music. Thanks also to my great booking agents, Bob, Claire and Inge. And to the BBC and Bob Harris for playing and supporting us by having us live in the studio.

I have been working on recording my next album all summer. I hope to finish it soon. When I get back to Vancouver in september i hope to put what will be the finishing touches on it…. I have been collaborating with producer and composer Matt Rogers, and it’s been really great. Matt’s become a friend and it’s been fun for me to have someone to bounce ideas off.
Here’s a picture that Rebecca Kemp took of me in the studio:

After a month in the studio, I flew to Winnipeg, picked up my friend Marcel, and jumped on a train to go to Hudson, Quebec, for a festival there. We were playing on the train, and I must say it was one of my best experiences ever. First of all I have wanted to go across Canada on train for a long time, second the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and third the food was really good. Several of my Canadian family members have worked on the railroad so it was also really interesting for me to spend time where they worked for years and years…i always wondered why I liked trains so much until I found out about my family history…
It seemed like too soon when we 2 days later arrived in Toronto. We then took a bus up to this amazing little town in Quebec called Hudson. We had such a great time at their festival, and they treated us like royalty. Big hugs to all the Husdon folks! Thanks for everything. We love you.
